2024 IMPACT DESIGN AWARDS | Rules & Criteria

Competition Period (online registration & project submissions)

  • There is no waiting period between registering and submitting. 

  • All entry information must be completed by the deadline listed above. Entries can be started, saved and completed at a later date. 

  • Winners will be announced and awards presented at the Chapter Weekend Awards Gala on Saturday, September 21, 2024 in Orlando, Florida at the Signia by Hilton - Orlando Bonnett Creek

Fees

  • Members/Industry Partner Members: $175 

  • Non-Members/ Industry Partner Non-Members: $250

  • Student Members: Free

  • Student Non-Members: $25 per entry  *1st Place Winners will receive a free 1-Year Membership* 

  • Non-Project Awards: No fee; refer to criteria below for further information

Entry Criteria:

  • Each entry must represent a permanent installation (except show house and student) that was installed on or after January 2022.

  • Projects receiving previous publicity are eligible.

  • Projects that have won previously are NOT eligible.

  • Members entering projects for consideration must be either Professional, Allied, Associate, Educator, Student, or Industry Partners in good standing with ASID Florida North Chapter. 

  • Entries must be free of ALL markers such as client names, entrant’s name or design firm, logos, watermarks, etc. Business logos may be included if they are integral to the built design.

  • Non-members entering projects must be actively practicing interior design in a professional capacity and be members of an industry professional organization such as NKBA, IIDA, AIA, etc. -OR- be a registered interior designer in the state of Florida. 

  • Entry fees are non-refundable. 

Student Scholarship Criteria:

  • Freshman - Senior actively enrolled in a 2-Year, 4-Year University/College, or Trade School for Interior Design 
  • Proof of minimum 3.5 Grade Point Average
  • Personal statement expressing aspirations, goals, and/or personal experience in the study or field of Interior Design. 500 words of less
  • Proof of Community Involvement or Leadership Role include contact info for (1) reference
  • Must be an ASID Student Member in good standing 
  • Applicants are NOT required to enter the Impact Design Awards

Industry Partner & Interior Designer of the Year:

  • Industry Partner of The Year
    • Nominations can be submitted at https://forms.gle/zQp2fkS8ekqzJL4e8 through June 1, 2024. Voting will occur June 15 - July 1, 2024. Winner must be an ASID Industry Partner Member in good standing. Board will verify eligibility of each nomination. **Must be an ASID Member to Nominate & Vote**
  • Interior Designer of The Year
    • Nominations can be submitted at https://forms.gle/ssoFcRLZWf3YL4eB7 through June 1, 2024. Voting will occur June 15 - July 1, 2024. Winner must be an ASID Member in good standing. Board will verify eligibility of each nomination. **Must be an ASID Member to Nominate & Vote**

Judging:

All entries will be judged on a 100-point scale with the following criteria:

  • Scale and proportion

  • Color composition

  • Creative use of space

  • Functional use of space

  • Effective use of lighting

  • Appropriate design solutions

  • Relationship of materials, textures, and patterns

  • Written design concept statement

  • Attention to details and design elements

  • Overall design cohesion

The judges will be comprised of Professional or Allied ASID members in good standing with ASID from ASID chapters outside of Florida North.

The designation of First Place is given to the highest scoring project. The designation of Second Place is given to the next highest scoring project. These projects must exhibit excellence in meeting all of the criteria. All projects must receive an average score of 70 or higher to be eligible for an award. 

All project submissions are awarded at the discretion of the judging panel. All entries will be reviewed, and no category will be omitted due to a lack of participation (e.g. only one entry received). Awards are not guaranteed in every category. (e.g. if all submissions in a particular category have an average score lower than 70.)
